BIOLOGICAL   BASIS OF BEHAVIOR

Behavior in all its forms and shapes have definitely a biological or psychological base. There are two important  & distinct body mechanism namely the Nervous System  and the Endocrine System, that bear strong influence over human behavior.

Nervous System
The system of our body that co-ordinates voluntary or non-voluntary actions and translates  signs to and from different part of our body. The nervous system is basically classified into two parts:Central Nervous System and Autonomic nervous system:

A)Central Nervous System

The central nervous system is a part of our nervous which integrets information and co-ordinates & influences the whole activity of all the parts of our body. The central nervous system comprises the brain and the spinal cord.

a)Brain:The brain is the main part of our central nervous system. The brain  consist of 15-33 billions of neurons which is located inside our skull. It is usually close to the primary sense organsfor the sense of vision, smell, taste, hearing and balance. The brain has three major divisions i.e; fore brain, mid brain and hind brain.

*Fore brain:It consist of thalamus, hypothalamus and cerebrum.

*Mid brain: Its a short of bridge which connect the fore brain and mid brain.

*Hind brain: it consist of of medulla, pons & cerebellum.
b)Spinal Cord: The spinal cord is a long thin tubular bundle of nervous tissue & support cell that extends from medulla oblongata to yhe lumbar region of CNS. It relay information about what is happening inside and outside our body. It consist of bundle of Spinal Nerve which carries sensory & motor message to and from spinal cord and Cranial Nerve which communicate information by directly reaching into the brain without passing through spinal cord.

B)Peripheral Nervous System

The peripheral nervous system is the part of nervous system that consist of the nerves and ganglia on the outside of the brain and spinal cord. It brings information to and from the brain and spinal cord to other parts of our body. It consists largely of nervous fiber & axons which carry nerve impulses from the sensory receptor of the body inward to the central nervous system. It is also classified under two sub-topics as:

a)Somatic nervous system:The SNS is related to the activities of muscle movements. For instance, when we write our eyes scan the words and pick up it.

b)Autonomic nervous system: The ANSis related to yhe regulation of activity of organs of our body. For instance, the function of heart, stomach, intestines etc. are regulated by ANS. The autonomic nervous system can also be classified as under.
